CONSCIOUSNESS

There is a chemical reaction going on in every cell of ones body. In all chemical reactions there are electrons, i.e. electricity, moving around. We are electric, and yet, as we are fairly well insulated within our environment, we radiate our excess energy as heat rather than electricity. Still, every once in a while one grabs a door knob and feels a little zap.

Nowhere in the body is electricity as important than in ones brain. One might even say that there is electricity "trapped," and thus separated from the rest of the world, within ones brain. Perhaps such separation itself is the source of consciousness. There is no doubt that when someone bleeds to death, they lose consciousness, their "life blood" is spilt out into the world. No doubt one has seen doctors "shock" someone back to life with electricity on TV. Science associates electrical activity, especially in ones brain, with life and consciousness, and the absence of electrical activity with death and unconsciousness.

Sensory reception is gathering information, or intelligence, with ones senses. Sensory reception links the truth and ones knowledge of the truth. Ones subconscious mind is made up mostly of stored sensory reception data. Observation, on the other hand, is what consciousness is based on. Ones observations are made when one associates meaningful sensory receptions with ones previously gathered knowledge. Ones new observations may be based on current sensory receptions or sensory receptions previously stored in ones memory. When one reconciles ones observations to ones sensory receptions, ones consciousness becomes increasingly aligned with the truth, which is that portion of God one may perceive.

Consciousness might be said to be at war with the subconscious until the two are reconciled through illumination. Unresolved conflict between the conscious and subconscious is played out in symbolic dreams. Consciousness is fluid, like water. If one can still the choppy waters, by reconciling ones observations to ones sensory reception, one may bring peace to this water and see clearly what lies beneath and above this water.

Ones senses, and thus sensory receptions and knowledge, are interconnected. If one closes ones eyes and feels a toy block with ones hand, one can visualize a toy block in ones mind using ones imagination and memory.

You've surely heard the expression, "See no evil. Hear no evil. Speak no evil. Have no fun." It is indeed a good idea to stay away from any opportunity to perceive evil. After all, even though one may be steadfast in truth and may not be hurt by perceiving evil, all sensory receptions are stored forever in ones subconscious. As to having fun, I'm sure being good may be at least as much fun as being evil, and certainly more of a challenge. If one can only have fun in error, then there is error in ones beliefs which if removed, will enable one to enjoy truth.

Our visual sensory reception is limited to a certain range of light frequencies. If one looks at the Sun directly, one is looking directly at an atomic explosion of hydrogen and helium atoms. However, most of the time, one does not look directly at the source of the light one sees, one looks at things that light is reflecting off of into ones eyes. Thus, the frequencies one sees are limited by three things: the frequencies one can perceive physically with ones eyes, the actual frequencies given off by the original light source, and the frequencies absorbed or dispersed by the things in the way of the light. The frequencies of light one sees are a certain range of radiation which is also called radiant heat or radiant energy. Thus, what one is perceiving is energy and information.

Your entire being is affected by what you see. To perceive is to become affected by what you perceive. Even if one does not approve of the things one sees, one cannot deny that the "memory" is probably in ones subconscious mind for the rest of ones life. Each sensory reception one perceives is a formula for change imprinting itself upon ones subconscious mind. Cells in ones body actually change based on what one perceives. If one sees something horrible, ones endocrine system may create adrenaline making ones heart race, or if one sees something beautiful, ones endocrine system may generate serotonin or dopamine, making one feel good. Pleasant and unpleasant thoughts have physiological affects upon the body. Only error can create unpleasantness. There is a direct line possible between any one of us and God, and thus, between any one of us and peace, the only problem is that this line is knotted and tangled with aberrant beliefs. Ones beliefs are the only things that separates each of us from each other and from God. When one untangles ones beliefs, the resultant belief lights up like a filament in a light bulb.

Sound, like light, is carried in "waves" of various frequencies. As humans, we are capable of hearing a certain range of these frequencies. To hear is to become affected by what you hear. Sound which is transferred as vibration excites atomic activity, and thus heats everything in its way until it is absorbed and dispersed. When one goes to the movies, the soundtrack is very important, telling the audience what to feel and what to expect. Think of the music in the movie JAWS, and the affect that it has on you. Think about how classical music makes you feel as opposed to punk rock music. Everything one hears is stored in ones subconscious memory.

Ones mind operates in a certain range of frequencies when engaged in thought. Thus, when certain sounds are introduced through the ears, particularly if introduced to both brain hemispheres at the same time, they can combine with ones body's own brain wave frequencies which create changes in the body's own frequencies having an affect on ones consciousness. An affect on the body is an affect on ones consciousness. An affect on consciousness is an affect on ones entire body.

Music has a profound affect on ones consciousness because it has a profound affect on ones observations. When one hears an old familiar love song it might remind one of a particular person or a particular time, changing ones mood as one reruns those past observations. When one hears an exciting song, it might make one want to get up and dance. Music may change ones consciousness by changing ones focus, or current observation, often making one re-run previous observations by exciting ones memory. Think about how advertisers like to associate your favorite songs with their products in their TV commercials.

Consciousness may be directly linked to electrical activity within microtubules in the brain. Anesthesiology, for example, is thought to impede electrical activity in the microtubules causing loss of consciousness, and observation, but not necessarily loss of subconsciousness, or sensory reception, which may continue to be recorded amongst the neurons.

Perhaps the most fascinating thing about conciousness is that it is not a figment of ones imagination. Ones ego limits ones conciousness rather than increases it. This is why many "ego shrinking" drugs like LSD are often refereed to as "mind expanding" and "conciousness expanding" drugs. In fact, without the consciousness constricting ego, it is difficult to differentiate oneself from ones environment. It is illuminating to associate oneself with everything that is. Some people believe that when one dies, ones consciousness, is freed to become the universal conciousness.
